My 6 yr old, Jordan, really wants the new Lego Game: Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. The first thing he said to me this morning was “Lego Batman 2 is out today.” He had me checking Redbox to rent it (they didn’t have it) and put it in our Gamefly queue. I can’t afford to buy it so I went on a hunt for giveaways, here’s the 4 I’ve found so far. PLEASE leave me a comment with any more you know of!
I just finished reading one of the best books for middle-school children that I’ve read in a very long time called Iris and the Dragonflies. It’s one of those books that’s interesting to all ages. I certainly couldn’t put it down and now my 12 year old is reading it to himself and I’m reading it to my 6 and 8 year old. So far, they are loving it as well! I definitely cannot wait for the next book.
Iris is a very unique eleven year old girl. Ever since she was born she has been surrounded by dragonflies and lately she thinks she’s begun to understand them. After returning from a trip to visit her grandmother in Ireland where she began to unlock the secrets of her powers and the past she learns of a plot to destroy her beloved Dragonfly Creek. Together with her friends she fights to save the creek.
I really highly recommend this book for anyone with school-age children. Not only is it extremely entertaining, riveting even, it’s also educational! I love how it encourages creativity, activism and protecting the environment. My favorite “lessons” from the book are the ones dealing with relationships, from bullying to sibling rivalry to friendship. Iris and the Dragonflies seamlessly blends fantasy with modern issues. It is charming and captivating. inspiring and provocative. Teachers and parents can even download workbooks with engaging activities that back up and expand upon the topics touched upon in the book. I cannot say enough about this book, read it with your children or classroom!
Iris and the Dragonflies is written by Rosemary Danielis. Mother of four with a degree in English and Communications, she wrote Iris and the Dragonflies for her children. You can visit Rosemary’s blog here and Iris’ blog here. Also make sure to visit the official Iris and the Dragonflies facebook page and webpage. The paperback can be purchased from Amazon for $14.95 or you can get the Kindle version for just $.99!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

When I got home today, I immediately ran to the computer and logged onto my e-mail account using my Clear Internet connection. All week I have been anxiously awaiting a reply from a new potential employer. I have been unhappy at my job for the last year. We merged with another company and a lot of the people that I liked at work got laid off. There was also a huge change in the management across the board, and the work environment is really not the most pleasant. I need a job, so have stayed this long, but I have also been looking around for something better. I had an interview that I was really excited about last week. I think that it went really well and I really want to work there, but they said that it would take at least two weeks before I would find out if I got the job or not. So today, when I ran home to check the e-mail, again, no answer yet. It is literally killing me! Good or bad, anything could be better than this suspense!
